## What it solves

Asking an assistant to think like a CFO produces a CFO-flavoured answer, not a CFO-shaped one, because the framework a CFO would actually use is not in the prompt. Crew puts the frameworks and the decision models in, so the role comes with its method rather than just its vocabulary.

## How it works

Thirteen personas, among them chief executive, finance, marketing, technology, product, analyst, support and creative direction, each with its own frameworks and decision models. Sixteen tools handle activating a persona, checking status, giving feedback, defining your own, and chaining several into a workflow. Beyond a single role there are councils and debates with blind voting, and standing teams that persist. Personas and workflows are also exposed as browsable resources, so you can read what a role is before you activate it.

## When to use it

It is at its best on a decision you would normally take to several people: a blind-vote council surfaces disagreement instead of averaging it away, which is the part a single prompt cannot do. There is no extra API cost, because it runs inside your existing Claude subscription.

## When not to use it

A persona is a way of framing an answer, not a source of expertise the model did not have. It will not know your numbers, your market or your team, and a council of thirteen roles that all read the same context can agree confidently and still be wrong. Use it to structure thinking, not to outsource a judgement.
